The MSI Nove Reducer is the go-to finishing piece for bridging the gap between your luxury vinyl plank installation and any adjacent surface at a different height — delivering a smooth, safe, and polished result every time.

Vinyl floor reducers are designed for situations where flooring heights differ. When transitioning from luxury vinyl to a lower-profile surface such as bare concrete or low-pile carpet, a reducer creates a gentle slope that minimizes tripping hazards while delivering a visually pleasing finish. Instead of an abrupt drop-off, the reducer forms a gradual, secure transition that protects both surfaces and enhances safety.

Knowing which trim to reach for matters. Use a surface reducer when there's a height difference between the floors, and an end cap when the doorway and vinyl planks are at the same level. For rooms where your Nove floors step down to tile, vinyl, or low-pile carpet in an adjoining space, the Reducer is the right call.

The molding is sloped on one side, essentially tapering off the floor as opposed to capping it, creating a gradual ramp that feels natural underfoot. Typically measuring 1.77" wide and 94" long, this profile seamlessly eases height differences between flooring materials, helping to prevent trips, scuffs, and damage over time.

Installation is straightforward. Install the flooring leaving a 1" gap between the two floors for the surface reducer installation. Center the track between the flooring leaving a ¼" spacing between the track and the floor planks, then screw or glue the track to the subfloor. Measure and trim to fit, then press the molding into the track starting at one end, inching along the length — a rubber mallet can also be used.
